Story: Mr. Finchley has just gotten a 60 dollar raise and wants to figure out the best way to invest it. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * A stock market or equity market is the aggregation of buyers and sellers (a loose network of economic transactions, not a physical facility or discrete entity) of stocks (also called shares); these may include securities listed on a stock exchange as well as those only traded privately. A stock exchange is an exchange or stock market where stock brokers and traders can buy and/or sell stocks (also called shares), bonds, and other securities. Stock exchanges may also provide facilities for issue and redemption of securities and other financial instruments, and capital events including the payment of income and dividends. Securities traded on a stock exchange include stock issued by listed companies, unit trusts, derivatives, pooled investment products and bonds. Stock exchanges often function as "continuous auction" markets, with buyers and sellers consummating transactions at a central location, such as the floor of the exchange. To be able to trade a security on a certain stock exchange, it must be listed there. Usually, there is a central location at least for record keeping, but trade is increasingly less linked to such a physical place, as modern markets use electronic networks, which gives them advantages of increased speed and reduced cost of transactions. Trade on an exchange is restricted to brokers who are members of the exchange. In recent years, various other trading venues, such as electronic communication networks, alternative trading systems and "dark pools" have taken much of the trading activity away from traditional stock exchanges. The initial public offering of stocks and bonds to investors is by definition done in the primary market and subsequent trading is done in the secondary market. A stock exchange is often the most important component of a stock market. Supply and demand in stock markets are driven by various factors that, as in all free markets, affect the price of stocks. There is usually no obligation for stock to be issued via the stock exchange itself, nor must stock be subsequently traded on the exchange. Such trading may be off exchange or over-the-counter. This is the usual way that derivatives and bonds are traded. Increasingly, stock exchanges are part of a global securities market. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), sometimes known as the "Big Board", is an American stock exchange located at 11 Wall Street, Lower Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States. It is by far the world's largest stock exchange by market capitalization of its listed companies at US$19.69 trillion as of May 2015. These 3 stocks to watch in June 2017 have some serious upside potential in my opinion. All three of these stocks to watch in June of 2017 are stocks that I expect will go up in value. The stock market is unpredictable and in 2017 the stocks may go up or down. It is impossible to know for sure but we can make our best guess about the stock market in June of 2017. 1. Google (Alphabet) Google is on my list of stocks to watch in June of 2017. Google is the dominant search engine and their products have become an essential part of our everyday lives. Instead of charging for these services, Google collects data which is far more valuable. This data is worth billions of dollars to advertisers. Google makes money through AdSense and AdWords by offering targeted advertising services with real time feedback. As traditional advertising practices are phased out, more ad spending will be directed to Google and Facebook. Google is in the perfect position to benefit from this advertising trend shift. 2. Facebook Facebook is on my list of stocks to watch in June of 2017 as well. Facebook has a social media monopoly that is still growing. Like Google, Facebook collects data on their users. This data is very valuable to advertisers. Facebook also owns Instagram and WhatsApp, which provides them with additional opportunities to collect data and advertise. Facebook is the dominant social media platform. Despite how large Facebook has become, it is still growing. Daily active users grew 18% in 2016 and mobile monthly active users grew 17%. More users means more data being collected and more advertisements. Facebook will also largely benefit from this advertising trend shift we are seeing. 3. Amazon Amazon is my third and final stock on my list of stocks to watch in June of 2017. Amazon is becoming known as the shopping search engine. Amazon is disrupting retailers across the board and it is now more likely that you will find an Amazon Prime account in a household than a landline telephone. Due to the complexity of the business and the intellectual property they have, Amazon has a very low risk of disruption. We are seeing a consumer spending trend shift as people are doing more shopping online. Amazon will benefit from this trend shift more than any other company. In 2017 alone, the average return on investment across Google, Facebook and Amazon is 30.3%! Today I will be showing you how to become a millionaire by saving 5 dollars each day. That is right. All you need to become a millionaire is an extra 5 dollars. That is what many of us spend on coffee each day. Today I will be teaching you how to become a millionaire. The truth is, you only need an extra $5 each day to set aside to become a millionaire. No, you cannot save your way to millionaire status by stashing it in the bank. In fact, if you saved $5 a day from the time you were born to the age of 100 you would have accumulated $182,500! Saving $5 a day is equal to saving $1,825 a year. It is what you do with that money that determines whether or not you will become a millionaire. What you need to do is invest. You want to take advantage of compound interest and time. Compound interest allows you to make interest on your interest. The longer you allow your money to earn interest, the better the results. Here is the strategy. Become a millionaire with $5 a day. 1. Set aside $5 each day. At the end of the month, you will have $150 to invest. 2. Each month, invest in a diversified investment portfolio. One of the most lucrative investing portfolios over time has been 50% in blue chip stocks and 50% in investment grade bonds. Over the last 100 years on average, blue chip stocks have paid 10% interest and investment grade bonds have paid 6%. This gives you an average return of 8%. 3. Keep doing this for 50 years. 4. After 50 years, your portfolio will be worth $1,032,786.28 Congratulations. You just became a millionaire for the price of a coffee at Starbucks. Portfolio diversification is an important factor to profit from the stock market, but the traditional approach is counter intuitive to maximising results. In this video, Garry demonstrates the smarter way to diversify as part of your overall asset allocation strategies. Garry Davis (AR No:317590) is an authorised representative of Primary Securities Ltd (AFSL No. 224107). Stock diversification is a common theme amongst investors, and with particular reference to the fund management industry, it generally breeds low performance. The smart way to carry out investment diversification avoids those pitfalls by not buying at the top and selling at the bottom, in other words not following the herd. Strategic asset allocation such as this gives you a much better chance to create above average returns consistently, but remember when you diversify your portfolio that you should always avoid poor quality stocks, and industries that are not in uptrend. Here are five great dividend stocks for 2017 and beyond. These are stocks that have high dividends and a good overall stock performance. These are stocks that I expect will continue to pay great dividends in the future. Investing in dividend stocks is a great way to take advantage of compound interest. These dividend stocks are great compound interest investments in my opinion. Here are my five favorite compound interest friendly dividend stocks to invest in! #1 Brookfield Renewable Partners 5.66% Dividend (NYSE $BEP) This is a renewable utility company with a business model based on owning and operating renewable energy plants. Brookfield Renewable Partners has over 100 years of experience in power generation. One plus to Brookfield Renewable is that their large portfolio of assets is located across politically stable countries. About 90% of the company’s cash flow is contracted for the next 16 years, making for generally safe and predictable business results. They have a 5 year dividend growth streak. #2 AT&T 5.2% Dividend (NYSE $T) AT&T is the world’s largest telecommunication company. This is a long standing company originally founded in 1875. AT&T provides both mobile and fixed landline telephone services, data and internet services, and pay television services. The wireless industry is well established and has significant entry barriers owing to costly infrastructure. This gives AT&T a very low risk of disruption. AT&T has strong brand recognition as well. #3 Southern Company 4.7% Dividend (NYSE $SO) Southern Company is one of the largest producers of electricity in the US and has been in business for more than 100 years. Roughly 90% of Southern Company’s earnings come from regulated subsidiaries. This makes cash flows safe, regular, and reliable. Regulated utilities have predictable income and growth, and they are resistant to poor economic conditions. #4 Target 4.76% Dividend (NYSE $TGT) The first Target store opened in 1962, and the company now has approximately 1,800 locations across the country. While brick and mortar retailers are facing a number of challenges, Target likely isn’t going away anytime soon. It sells many essential merchandise items, and management is investing heavily in ecommerce in an effort to remain relevant with consumers and compete with Amazon. Target started paying dividends in 1967 and they almost have a 50 year dividend growth streak. While the company’s dividend continues to look safe, it might be wise to avoid businesses with questionable long-term prospects. Ecommerce giants like Amazon are changing the game. An investment in Target would be by someone confident that they have what it takes to remain competitive in this shifting shopping climate. #5 Pfizer Inc 3.79% Dividend (NYSE $PFE) Pfizer is one of the largest global pharmaceutical companies. Pfizer develops and produces medicines and vaccines for a wide range of medical practices. Pfizer was founded in 1849, making them a time tested company to invest in. Pfizer operates in the relatively recession-proof pharmaceuticals industry, which is immune from the unexpected changes of economic cycles.
